About Yellow Lemon Tree

Every great story starts somewhere. Ours began with a journey, a dream, and an old yellow lemon tree.

After marrying Mr. du Plessis, Mrs. du Plessis moved to Polokwane to begin a new chapter of her life. During her travels to Indonesia, she fell in love with the beauty of handcrafted solid wood furniture. Every piece told a story, lovingly created by skilled artisans, and she immediately recognised the exceptional quality and timeless craftsmanship.

Planning to furnish her own home, she ordered a container filled with beautiful furniture, adding a few extra pieces for friends and family. She never imagined that this single decision would become the beginning of Yellow Lemon Tree.

When the container arrived in South Africa, the furniture was displayed in her mother’s garden in Pretoria. Word spread quickly. Friends visited, then friends of friends, and before long every piece had been sold.

Even the furniture she had chosen for her own home found a new owner.

Standing in that same garden was a beautiful old yellow lemon tree. While searching for a name that reflected the journey, inspiration had been there all along. Beneath its branches, Yellow Lemon Tree was born.

What began as a single container sold from a family garden has grown into one of South Africa’s trusted destinations for luxury furniture, home décor, bespoke upholstery, premium fabrics, and interior design.

Today, from our home in Polokwane, Yellow Lemon Tree has imported hundreds of containers, helping homeowners, designers, hospitality venues, and businesses across South Africa create timeless, beautifully designed spaces. While the business has grown, the passion remains exactly the same: bringing exceptional craftsmanship and thoughtfully curated furniture into every home.
